Meet the Maker

Although always creative, Keely didnt fully embrace her love for clay until 2002 when she enrolled on a figurative sculpture course in Newport Gwent.

She has since experimented with handbuilding, and throwing and found a true passion for raku. Keely loves the intensity, unpredictability and immediacy of this process.

Keely's sculptures directly reflect her character, while drawing inspiration from her upbringing in the Welsh coastal town of Newcastle Emlyn and its surrounding environment.

Keely uses a home made gas fired barrel raku kiln with a locally sourced, oak sawdust reduction to create unique variations in glaze and smoke patternation. Her love of the raku firing process continues to grow through experimentation and practice.

Her work can be found in various galleries throughout South Wales including her home town of Llandeilo and some pieces are available direct from the studio via the onlne shop.
